Spring Awakening

Spring time ushers in blooming flowers, sprouting trees, birds chirping, blue skies, sunshine and this:

I've been spending the first nice spring days in the girls closet trading the winter clothes in favor of more weather appropriate spring/summer attire. This task is down right dangerous. I could get buried alive in there. If you don't hear from me in a few days, or if you notice my kids still wearing sweaters in 80 degree weather, please send a search party.

Let Them Eat Cake!

   When youre carrying 30 extra pounds thanks to a 7lb baby (yeah, the math doesn't quite add up), it takes a little extra effort to dress up. My friend Tiffany was getting married so I planned my outfit with care. There are so many elements to consider - so many problem areas to conceal! :)  The wedding being held in April was a bonus so I wouldn't have to contend with bare arms and legs - I'm not quite ready for that yet.

   I bought a dress I loved (and one that could be easily altered when I lose the weight), paired it with a lace jacket, black tights and black platforms. Then, as luck would have it, the temperature soared to 85 degrees. There was no way I was altering my outfit. I had no other options - last summer I was pregnant, the summer before I was 30 lbs lighter - so this was it. Off to the wedding I went- hot as hell and with my feet screaming for mercy. However, I enjoyed every minute of it. After all, there was cake!

After scrolling through pictures, it seems our Dogwood tree saw a lot of action this weekend.
The next day, the girls and I decorated the tree with Easter decorations.

Bedrest and a Birthday

My pregnancy with Hadley got a little rough at the end. I was riddled with pre-eclampsia and was so swollen I had to wear my husbands shoes. 
   With two weeks to go I was put on STRICT bed rest - only getting up to go to the bathroom was permitted. These days I would kill for a little bed rest, but back then it was pure torture. After one week, I was BEGGING Justin to take me somewhere - anywhere - I just had to get out of the house. So, we cut a deal - he would "let" me go to the grocery store IF I agreed to ride in a motorized cart. Off we went - hell, I would rock that power chair if it meant I got to leave the house. 
    We went late at night (didn't want anyone to see me!) and I zipped all around that store!  Probably the most fun trip to the grocery store I've ever had! This was April 5th, two days before Hadley was born. Happy 6th Birthday to my sweet girl, Hadley June - the only person on the planet I would rock a Hoveround for.
